  • The banana sign is seen at antenatal US and refers to a banana-shaped configuration of the cerebellum.
  • This abnormality is associated with neural tube defects.
  • The cerebellum appears banana-like because it is wrapped around the posterior brainstem due to downward traction of the spinal cord
