Clinical statement: [Evaluate for spina bifida.]

Technique: Sonography of the lumbosacral spine was performed with gray-scale imaging.


Findings: The spine is visualized from L1 to the sacrum. The distal spinal cord and nerve roots are normal in appearance. The distal spinal cord appears freely mobile and terminates at L2. The visualized osseous structures are normal in appearance.

Impression: Unremarkable examination of the lumbosacral spine without evidence of spina bifida or tethered cord.
